Belgian style chocolate cookies. In stead of using a star cookie cutter, you can shape the dough into small stars with your hands. You can also try making them in different shapes such as crescent moon or heart shapes.

Sift together flour and cocoa powder.

Cream together butter and sugar. Blend well.

Fold in egg yolk to the butter mixture and mix until well combined. (Photo #1)

Add the flour mixture to the butter mixture and mix until well combined. Press the dough together as in the photo. (Photo #2)

Roll out the dough to 5mm thick and cut out with a small star cookie cutter. (Photo #3)

Place the stars on a baking tray. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (356 °F) for about 10 minutes. (Photo #4)

After cooling, sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar and cocoa powder, half and half.
