Sliced Almond Cookies

French style cookies. Top with sliced almonds and confectioners’ sugar before baking. You can substitute the almonds with hazelnuts or coconuts. For more fun look and texture, you can use a mixture of almonds, hazelnuts and dried fruit for the topping.

Allow butter to soften at room temperature. Place the butter and sugar in a bowl and rub to combine the two ingredients. (Photo #1)

Mix in egg yolk.

Add flour and blend. (Photo #2)

Transfer the dough into small round molds. Smooth the surfaces and top with a generous amount of almond slices, then sprinkle with confectioners’ sugar. (Photo #3)

Bake in a preheated oven at 170 °C (338 °F) for about 15 minutes. If the almonds turn brown but the center is still not done, cover with foil and continue baking. (Photo #4)
