German style honey cookies. ¡ÈHONIG TEIG MIT VANILLE¡É means ¡Èhoney dough with vanilla¡É in German. Cornstarch is used in this recipe, but you can substitute it with any other kind of starch. Let the dough rest in the refrigerator before shaping it.

Sift together flour and corn starch.

In a bowl, cream together butter, honey and sugar. (Photo #1)

Add 5 - 6 drops of vanilla essence and egg yolk. Blend well. (Photo #2)

Fold in the sifted dry ingredients and mix. (Photo #3)

Gather up the dough and wrap it in plastic wrap. Let rest in the refrigerator for an hour.

Lightly knead the dough and roll into small bars between the palms of your hands. They should be about 5cm long and 1cm in diameter. (Photo #4)

Bake in a preheated oven at 180 ¡ëC (365 ¡ëF) for about 10 minutes until brown. (Photo #5)

After cooling, sprinkle generously with confectioners¡Ç sugar.
